derive reader #1 - Artists interventions into the market economy (Tom Watson)
-A look at artists who adopt entreprenural roles more often associated with business, as the critical premise of their art practice. Includes a truly reverental historical introduction to the drive to make the arts more profitable in the late 80's, written by Gregory Scholette.
derive reader #2 - Open source development (Maria Dada)
- A collection of texts by two academics and one self made writer, problematising the claims and easy adoption of an open source ethos. Maria produced this reader to provide a critical counter point to art industry's recent interest in open source as a working methodoligy.
Clegg & Guttmann a written account of The speakers platform at Grieskirchen (Evi Grigoropoulou)
-Evi wanted to bring an exaple of a text she had used in another reading group, to look at publics, or arts use of the term, through the focus of a project by Clegg and Guttmann. In the derive session we also watched Anthony Gormely's One and Other, live - and discussed Jeremy Deller's Procession - both of which were happening in the summer of 2009.
